There are endless miles of wilderness to explore here, and cowboys have been trekking through its rivers and streams for centuries. Anglers have ample opportunities to fish in the Anima River, especially in the four-mile strip of Gold Metal Water between Lightner Creek and Rivera Crossing.

The historic Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad was designed in the 1800s and carried over $300,000,000 in precious metals each year.
